I'm a foreign student from Taiwan and I live in LA right now.
I passed my driving test in september, 2009. However, after waiting for 5 months, I haven't received my picture ID yet. I went to the DMV where I took my driving test and asked them about it, they told me that INS (Immigration Naturalization Serivce) is the one who's holding my document right now and there's nothing they can do for me. All they told me is to keep on waiting.
I went to check with the school counselor that whether there's something wrong with my F-1 status; however, I'm a full time student, my F-1 visa is good and every of the school document is good. There seem to be nothing wrong which would make them hold my document for that long. Also almost all of my friends who are international students got their picture ID within a week or two, it's just rediculous that I have to wait more than 5 months for the ID.
What should I do? and where can I find the INS's (Immigration Naturalization Serivce) contact information? Should I just contact the INS directly?
