Hi, I am currently a high school sophomore in CA.
although I have different target colleges than you do, but I think I might be able to provide you some advice regarding college research.
First, about ESL, which level are you in?
try to get out of there ASAP
there might be problems like lack of english credit if you stay in there for too long..
I don't see the point of going to sat school in taiwan...
but, oh well:)
when it comes to college research, try looking up the colleges where you are consdiered as minorities(go somewhere the Asian population % is lower.)
in USC, you have an advantage because there's a large Asian population already.
if you want to get into schools like the UCs and USC where they already had a large Asian population, it'll be STRICTLY acadrmic.
as for SAT and GPA standard, check out collegeboard.com(hopefully you knew this website already:)) and search for USC.
Another thing, keep in mind that ALL grades from 9th grade up affect your total GPA.
keep up the grades and be INVOLVED！
take honors classes and AP classes as much as you can afford to take.
CHALLENGE YOURSELF！thta's an important characteristic a lot of colleges are looking for.
join clubs, more importantly, be ACTIVE. don't just be IN the club, that's not going to help.
you don't necessary have to be in sports, but if you like it, then, YES, it will help.
i am not sure if the piano contest would count as a plus,
but you can ask your counselor for more info on that kind of things.
just remember, CHALLENGE YOURSELF.
take challenging classes.
you might get a B in there and lower your GPA,
but a 3.8 from taking honors or AP is better than a 4.0 from 6 CP classes:)參考資料： high school sophomore
