1.Salicylate and Ammonia react at high pH in the presence of a chlorine donor and an iron catalyst to form a blue indophenol dye,the concentration of which is proportional to the Ammonia concentration in the sample.

2.Powdered cadmium is used to reduce nitrate to nitrite. The nitrite that is originally present plus reduce nitrate is determined by diazotization of sulfanilamide and nitrate followed by coupling with N-(1 naphthyl)-ethylenediamine dihydrochloride to form a highly colored azo dye which is measured colorimetrically.

    1.Salicylate 跟 Ammonia 在高pH值、Cl跟Fe催化下,會形成藍色的indophenol dye,dye的濃度(指顏色深淺)跟檢體中Ammonia的濃度成正比。(Ammonia 越多,dye的顏色越深)。

    2.粉狀的鎘是用來還原NO3-->NO2。NO3-->NO2的測量方法是利用sulfanilamide and nitrate 的diazotization反應,再加上N-(1 naphthyl)-ethylenediamine dihydrochloride 而形成顯色度高的azo dye,利用顏色的變化來測量。
