一、你這裡的"頂天立地"所指的是竹子的生長,所以我將他詮釋為:頂天: scape the sky (靈感取自摩天樓skyscraper的摩--scrape 跟天--sky)立地: cling to the ground (cling to 有緊緊抓住的意思; cling to the ground就是緊抓住地)或者是 be deeply rooted in the ground (be deeply rooted in 是"深深的紮根於"的意思)所以頂天立地就是: The bamboo grows high enough to scrape the sky and is so deeply rooted as to cling to the ground.(字面上: 竹子長得高到可摩天,紮根又深至緊抓住地而不鬆垮--這樣應該就是象徵竹子的高聳與根基的穩固吧!)二、至於搖曳生姿的話,當然指的就是竹子隨風所搖擺的姿態優雅吧:The bamboo sways gently and elegantly in the breeze(sway通常就是用來指樹木的隨風搖擺)如果要依照原中文詞性來翻的話,"生姿"的"生"應該是個動詞的型態,所以又或可翻成:The way the bamboo sways in the breeze creates an air of beauty and elegance.(字面上: 竹子搖曳的姿態創造出一種優美的氛圍來)
