Usually, Wikipedia is a quiet useful tool.
However, I hope to get a professional answer.
To cssnoopy,
Thanks very much for providing me these opinion.
What I said I want to get a professional answer did have malice.
In fact, I thought "protease" and "proteinase" have the same meaning.
However, in a class, a National Chair Professor of biochemistry said the two terms are different, so I asked this question.
There is one opinion that could be searched on the web.
Although I am not really sure if it is correct or not.
It says, peptidase can be devided into exo-peptidase and endo-peptidase.
And of these three terms (peptidase, exo-peptidase and endo-peptidase), peptidase could be named protease, endo-peptidase could be called proteinase and exo-peptidase could be called amino-peptidase.
I wonder do you have any idea on this opinion.

protease = proteolytic enzyme
oxidoreductases transferases hydrolases lyases isomerases ligases
proteinase = protein kinase
例如 protein kinase A (PKA)

哈哈 sorry 講錯了protease = proteinase 通稱而已 沒有什麼差

Biochem J. 1986 August 1; 237(3): 935. http://delphi.phys.univ-tours.fr/Prolysis/intropro... 包含endopeptidase and exopeptidase然後proteinase = endopeptidase然後protease = peptidase (總稱)邏輯推論下 若protease = proteinase則此protease 的作用為endopeptidase 人家老早就搞定了

Proteases, proteinases, and peptidases are all the same. I think they were just named differently when initially members of this class of enzymes were discovered independently and named separately, until later realizing that they follow a set pattern of enzymatic activities and are actually similar.
See this excerpt from wikipedia:
Proteases (proteinases, peptidases or proteolytic enzymes) are enzymes that break peptide bonds between amino acids of proteins. The process is called proteolytic cleavage, a common mechanism of activation or inactivation of enzymes especially involved in blood coagulation or digestion. They use a molecule of water for this and are thus classified as hydrolases.

Sure, if you want PROFESSIONAL ANSWERS:read:Baig S, et al. Cysteine proteinase inhibitors in murine cysticercosis. Antimicrob Agents Chemother. 2006 Aug;50(8):2886-8.you would find that the authors used proteinase and protease interchangeably.

Then read:Dolezal P, Likic V, Tachezy J, Lithgow T. Evolution of the molecular machines for protein import into mitochondria. Science. 2006 Jul 21;313(5785):314-8.You would find that authors used protease and peptidase in describing the same protein.I hope this is PROFESSIONAL enough.
