First of all, school education is the most efficient way to study any subject. Through forty hours per week, students can learn many subjects at once. For example, Chinese, English, math, and so on. And of course, it's a good choice to learn foreign languages in school!

cy2342 ( 初學者 5 級 ) 寫的非常高竿!! 美中不足的是, 這句 "it would not be surprising that in the futhur, the importance of foreign language in job hunt would increased further." 中似乎有三個小錯誤.

In this age of rapid globalisation, learning a foreign language is becoming increasingly important. In the past, mastering a single language, in our case – Chinese, would be more than sufficient to communicate with everyone we would come across, to understand everything we read or heard; however it might not be the case in the future. In modern age, globalisation is becoming a dominant force, foreigners are coming into Taiwan to work or to stay, and the chance for people of Taiwan to explore the world outside Taiwan is becoming more and more available.
Considering this modern trend, if you've mastered one or two foreign languages, you might find yourself in an advantageous position when looking for a job, possibly job offered by a foreign company, and very possibly with a higher salary too. As the number of foreign firms is gradually increasing in Taiwan, it would not be surprising that in the futhur, the importance of foreign language in job hunt would increased further.
Besides this pragmatic point of view, learning a foreign language can serve your personal growth very much as well. Whether you are just a big friend of the Hollywood movies, or a travel aficionado, or a scholar in various fields of study, leaning a foreign language can be equally important.
For you to enjoy a particular movie, or a particular piece of music to the fullest, knowing the language in which the movie or music was made, was a prerequisite. Chinese translations/subtitles can seldom perfectly reflect the authors' intended meaning. If you are into travel, learning a foreign language is obviously important too. It allows you to communicate with the local people, to understand their culture, or at the very least, allow you to order some food in a restaurant.

Lastly, foreign language can be extremely useful, if you are a scholar or simply interested in a particular subject, which could be anything ranging from history to computer science. Many of the specialists' texts or textbooks are written in foreign languages,

and many of them never got the chance to be translated into Chinese, or whatever your mother tongue is.
To conclude, language is the most fundamental building block of our society, and of communication.

In modern time, where most people are, or starting to think globally, if you don't at least know one of the foreign languages, you would be seriously restricting yourself, limiting your choices in life to do what you want to do.
