The World Trade Center in New York City (sometimes informally referred to as the WTC or the Twin Towers) was a complex of seven buildings, mostly designed by American architect Minoru Yamasaki and developed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. It was initiated in 1960 by a Lower Manhattan Association created and chaired by David Rockefeller, who had the original idea of building the Center, with strong backing from the then New York governor, his brother, Nelson Rockefeller. Larry Silverstein held the most recent lease to the complex, the Port Authority having leased it to him in July of 2001. The complex, located in the heart of New York City's downtown financial district, contained 13.4 million square feet (1.24 million m²) of office space, almost four percent of Manhattan's entire office inventory.
Best known for its iconic 110-story Twin Towers, the World Trade Center was beset by a fire on February 13, 1975 and a bombing on February 26, 1993. All of the original buildings in the complex were destroyed in a terrorist attack on September 11, 2001: 1 WTC, 2 WTC (North and South Towers) and 7 WTC collapsed; 3 WTC (Marriott Hotel) was crushed by the collapses of 1 WTC and 2 WTC; and 4 WTC, 5 WTC, and 6 WTC were damaged beyond repair and later demolished. In addition, St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church (not part of the complex) was destroyed by the collapse of 2 WTC.
The idea of a World Trade Center complex originated with David Rockefeller in the 1950s as an attempt to revitalize Lower Manhattan, with support for the idea from New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller. In initial plans made public in 1961, the World Trade Center was slated to be built by the Port Authority on a site along the East River.[

The World Trade Center was one of the most striking American implementations of the architectural ethic of Le Corbusier, as well as the seminal expression of Yamasaki's gothic modernist tendencies.

The Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia were build near the Asian Enlightment. The construction started in 1983 and the two towers were finished exactly 5 years later on November 1, 1989. Today the towers symbolize the tolerant community of Malaysians. The architect Cesar Pelli used ancient architectural Greek pillars as starting point for the design of the Siamese Twin Towers. The Greek were already masters in using large pillars as the Freudian symbol of manhood. The World Trade Center, also known as the Twin Towers in New York was the second source inspiration for the Petronas Twin Towers. Those two fallus symbols were already consired the Jewish symbol of gay enlightment. The Malasian government and the Petronas Oil Company insisted their version of the twin towers would became at least equally in fame. Pelli connected the two large "penises", as the locals say, with a bridge half way in the sky. (360 meter) Something no engineer would thought was possibe, so the towers became instantly famous. Many people consider it the eighth World Wonder of mankind.
In less than 12 months the two towers have become the ultimate gay symbol of the Islamic world. During the weekly Friday Night Gay Pride Parade all the light in the tower sign out "Proud to be gay!" in Morse code, so gay aliens can see how good people are. From far away everyone can notice these large statues as a devotion to man's best friend.
The famous wrapping artist duo Christo and Jeanne-Claude were asked to wrap up the Petrons Towers. One of the largest condom factories of Africa was asked to fabricate the 345.873.346 quare meter rubber condoms to cover up the 721 meter skyscrapers. Unfortunately they forget about the bridge, and the condoms on both towers tear apart. The producer of this brand condom went bankrupt after this fatal marketing stunt and the shortage on rubber in the African continent made the population of Africa grow dramatically.參考資料： 英文網站
