乳酪堆積成的小鎮-阿克瑪(Alkmaar)

阿克瑪是荷蘭最著名的乳酪市集小鎮,每年四月到十月周五早上,在鎮上聖靈教堂廣場前便會聚集許多觀光客,四面八方湧入的遊客就是為了一睹傳統的乳酪交易市場。

廣場前空地,一個個黃澄澄,圓扁型或八角型的乳酪便被整齊的排列著,這些乳酪是來自全荷蘭各地的乳酪工廠,它們經由運河來到阿克瑪,準備待價而沽。

十點整交易正式開始,會有評鑑人員用小刀由乳酪中取樣試吃,然後貼上標籤。隨後會有身穿白衣的工作人員將乳酪搬上木橇上,抬入過磅房(Waag),所有手續結束後,這些乳酪才算通過檢驗,才能運至各地出售。

負責搬運的工人以不同的顏色來代表不同的公司,他們都有矯健的身手和充沛的體力,總見他們挑著乳酪滿場來回跑。

參觀過市集,不妨到廣場旁運河兩岸的小巷中逛逛,許多紀念品店或乳酪專賣店甚至還可看到現場自製木鞋。這裡賣的紀念品比其他地方的便宜,不妨多逛多比較。也可以選購幾種不同口味的乳酪回台灣與好友共享;TITA推荐您嘗嘗煙燻乳酪(Smoke Cheese),滋味一級棒,如果搭配一點紅酒,更是人間美味哦!

    Alkmaar- A little down piled with cheese.

    Alkmaar is the most famous town in Netherlands with cheese markets. Every Friday morning between April and October every year, the plaza outside St. Lin Church is packed with tourists, wanting to experience and see the traditional cheese market.

    Golden, shiny cheese, in both round and octagon shape, are placed in line on the plaza. These cheese are produced in the cheese factory from all over the Netherlands, they have been transported to Alkmaar from the river, prepared to be tasted and valued.

    At ten, the valuation/trade begins. The valuer tastes a sample dug out from a small knife, and then labels each cheese. They are followed by people dressed in white, who will then carry the cheese into the Waag. These cheese passes all the examination only until all the procedures are finished, then are able to be delivered else where for sale.

    Delivery staffs are dressed in different colours, representing different companies. They are all very agile and full of stamina. You would always be able to see them carrying cheese to and fro the market.

    After visiting the market, it would be a good idea to tour the alley alongside the river. You will be able to find many shops that sell souvenirs and cheese, and even hand-made shoes which they make on the spot! Souvenirs here are usually cheaper, it would be worth your while comparing. It is always a good idea to try different flavoured cheese, and bring them home to share with relatives in Taiwan. TITA recommends Smoke Cheese, it tastes fabulous, and is especially divine when you complement it with red wine.
