The Eight Stages Of Yoga

It is believed that practicing yoga forms a ladder leading to perfect knowledge. There are eight stages to be reached. The first is self-control, involving honesty and not harming living things. The second is being religiously devoted. The third, often considered the most important stage of the eight, is correcting body positioning like keeping your back straight. The fourth is regulating your breathing, keeping it deep and slow at the same time. The fifth stage involves focusing the mind towards the self and not on the world around you. The sixth stage is to steady the mind and to fix one’s attention to a part of the body, such as the tip of your nose. This is to help out in ignoring elements from the outside world and to stay focused. The seventh stage is to focus on knowledge. Lastly, the final stage is to be able to absorb knowledge without confusion.
