If you need a VISA and:
1. Italy is your main destination;
2. Italy is the country in the Schengen area where you will be spending most of the time (number of days); o if you are spending an equal number of days in each country;
3. Italy is your first port of entry in the Schengen area;
YOU HAVE TO APPEAR IN PERSON TO APPLY FOR YOUR VISA AT THE RELEVANT VISA OFFICE (FIND YOUR VISA OFFICE)
The Consular Section of the Embassy of Italy can only accept applications from residents of Washington D.C., Maryland: Prince George's and Montgomery counties only, and Virginia: Arlington and Fairfax counties only.

Schengen Visas (up to 90 days): US$ 77.95
National Visas (over 90 days): US$ 97.45
The fee must be paid in cash at the time of the application, and it is non refundable. The fee is waived for student VISAs (Please note that the rate will be adjusted every 3 months).
The Visa Office accepts payment only in cash, money orders, or certified cashier checks. The money orders and certified cashier checks should be made out to "Embassy of Italy" and list "Visa Fee" in the memo line.
