The custom of Halloween was established by the Celts two thousand years ago. They believed that in the darkness, the spirits would show up. Therefore in order to protect themselves from bad spirits they would hollow out turnips and put candles in to scare bad spirit away. However after the settlers who brought the custom with them immigrated to America, they used pumpkin instead of turnips.

Today, when Halloween comes, we would see jack-o’-lanterns everywhere which is made by children. They would cut the top of pumpkins and hollowed its seeds and pulp out with carving funny, sad and scary faces on the edge and putting a candle in.

Beside jack-o’-lanterns, pumpkin also can be eaten. Though it looks plain, there are many method of enjoying it. In other words, it is very popular

In addition to Halloween Thanksgiving is another important festival in America. That pumpkins and corn are often used to decorate during this time. They will give thanks for the harvest, for the family, and for the good things that they enjoy.

Pumpkins can be used to not only make jack-o’-lanterns, but also be eaten. There are many method of having pumpkins.

Thus , if u havnt experienced the interesting and joyful halloween, you must go to enjoy it. I'm sure that you will have a lot of fun and love the cutest festival tremendously
