在去(2006)年下半年推動19吋成為主流尺寸後,優固再接再厲,我們在今年八月電腦應用展,20吋和19吋LCD螢幕價差不到兩千元的策略奏效,現已可見到20吋LCD螢幕站穩主流地位。接下來的目標除了繼續推動前者市場外,也將野心勃勃往更大尺寸邁進,例如22吋、24吋等。

市場的反應告訴我們大尺寸廣受歡迎:目前優固19吋以上的LCD螢幕,已經占上了銷售比重的六成。

就像持續往更快速的反應時間邁進一般,LCD螢幕年年都喊出更大尺寸目標。在去年初17吋仍是銷售大宗時,預計下半年,19吋有機會站上市場主流。

但是在去年10月左右,我們推出了19吋以上、高解析度的液晶螢幕,訴求電腦加上大尺寸螢幕,可進入客廳或臥室以取代電視機。

事實上19吋以上的LCD螢幕在問世之初格外引人注目。除了前者在市場佔比極小,除了價格稍貴以外,主因是沒有應用需求,除了電玩遊戲市場以外,在桌面端看不到要求以高畫質或者大尺寸的畫面呈現應用。

去年十月,當時19吋以上的LCD螢幕,只佔有市場1%左右,其餘市場則分由17吋和19吋佔據,大約分別是6比4的比重。

不到一年的時間裡,20吋的LCD螢幕居市場主流地位。八月台北電腦應用展期間,16000台的銷售數量中,其中20吋和22吋寬螢幕機種,就佔了總銷售量八成。

    19-inch was the main stream size for LCD monitors in the second half of 2006. This year, at TICA 2007 in Aug, YOU GOOD introduced a promotional strategy offering 20-inch LCD monitor at less than $NT 2000 price difference from a 19-inch one. This strategy successfully established 20-inch as the main stream size. The follow up strategy will be pushing for larger screen size such as 22-inch and 24-inch, in addition to continuous promotion of the 20-inch products.

    According to the market research (response), big screen monitors are highly popular. As of today, the sale volume of LCD monitors of greater than 19-inch has reached 60%.

    "15 inch LCD monitors have almost completely disappeared from the market. 17-inch ones are confined to enterprise market. From the rest, the sale volume of 20-inch is double that of 19-inch."

    LCD screens are getting bigger year after year. At the beginning of last year, while 17 inch was still the big volume driver, it was already predicted that by the second half of the year, 19 inch LCD monitors would replace 17 inch ones as the primary products. YOU GOOD introduced in Oct last year, ahead of market prediction, greater than 19 inch, High-Definition LCD monitors. The selling point is that computers with a big screen monitor can replace the TVs in living rooms or bedrooms.

    In fact, greater than 19 inch monitors grabbed a lot of attention when it was first introduced. It had a very limited market share, not only because it was expensive but also it lacked suitable applications. There was practically no use for a HD or big screen monitor other than Computer Gaming.

    In Oct of last year, the market share of greater than 19-inch LCD monitor is only 1%. The rest are mainly 17-inch and 19-inch. The ratio is roughly 6 to 4.

    With a year, 20 inch LCD monitor has become the main stream products. At TICA 2007 in Aug, 80% of the 15K units sold are 20-ich and 22 inch widescreen LCD monitors.

    I would also recommend you replace "greater than 19-inch LCD" with "20 inch LCD or greater",from marketing point of view.
