The purpose of a thesis is to present technical findings, along with theoretical background, to other academic parties. A thesis is a report that contains the background knowledge on the topic and the method and result of the measurements and findings.
To start a thesis, one usually need a lot of background reading on the topic, and should have conducted experiments as well. Results should always be backed up by theoretical proofs. There are no “technical” language to use, but the whole report should be written in formal language, no slang, and no apostrophe (‘) used, i.e., write “do not” instead of “don’t”. Also, avoid using first person, technical report should be written in third person using passive voice, i.e., “this was done” instead of “I did this”
Thesis starts with an abstract giving the reader an overview of what they can expect from the thesis. Then it usually starts with an introduction that provides general background for the topic, followed by theoretical background knowledge of the topic. If the thesis is on an experiment, then the method, with reasoning, of the experiment should be included after the background knowledge. Results from the experiment is then written after the method but the discussion of the results usually comes in a separate heading “Discussion”. Finally, a conclusion to sum up the whole thesis and a reference section to include all references used in the thesis.
The order of the topics are in the order specified because it is the most logical order for the human brain to understand and process the information, and is a standard format for most technical thesis.參考資料： self
