    為方便起見,下面的 sth = something,sb = somebody,斜線「/」代表 or。

    1. dress code = a set of rules for what you should wear for a particular situation

Ex: More schools are starting more strict dress codes.

    2. to buckle down = to start working seriously

Ex: It’s time to buckle down and do your homework.

    3. to pass sb/sth off as sb/sth = to try to make people think that sth or sb is sth that it is not,

especially sb important or sth valuable

     pass A off as B 的字面意思是「把 A 傳走 (pass A off) 當作 B (as B)」引申成「把 A 當作 B 矇

Ex: They tried to pass the crystals off as diamonds./ The agents managed to pass themselves

     off as wealthy businessmen.

    4. to set foot in(side) a place = to go into a place

Ex: The last time Molly set foot in that house was 26 years ago.

    5. to be up for grabs = if a job, prize, opportunity etc. is up for grabs, it is available for anyone who

     wants to try to have

Ex: That post you were talking about is up for grabs now. Just go for it.

= 1) to use violence or arguments against sb who has attacked you or argued with you 取字面

Ex: If you’re mugged, don’t fight back.

= 2) to work hard to prevent sth bad happening

Ex: Victims of discrimination often don’t have the power to fight back.

= 3) to try very hard not to show your feelings or not to do sth you want to do 指努力不讓情緒爆

Ex: “I’m devastated,” Weston said, fighting back tears.

    7. to bring up 字面意思是「帶上來」

     1) to bring sb/sth up = to mention a subject or start to talk about it 在言詞上「帶上來」某人或

Ex: Thanks for bringing that up.

     2) to bring sb up = [usually passive] to educate and care for a child until they are grown up 多用

Ex: He was born and brought up in Taipei.

     3) to bring sth up = to vomit

Ex: The ride was so bumpy I almost brought up my lunch.

    1、dress code

    http://www.bju.edu/prospective/expect/dress.html

ex: You have to follow the dress code in school.

Ex: I joined a dress code wedding yesterday.

    2、buckle down

Ex: Buckle down, baby. We are arrived.

3、to pass something off as something else

    a. 消失

Has your pain passed off yet?

The meeting passed off successfully

4、to set foot inside a place

Ex: Never set foot inside my house.

    5、to be up for grabs

Ex: You are up for grabs what you deserved.

    6、to fight back

ex: Not happy? Fight back now!

    7. bring up

ex: He brings up his kids alone.
