Can you imagine how closely elephants and whales are related? For one thing, both qre bulky animals. The former are the largest animals on land;the latter the largest sea animals. For another, both are good swimmers. There is considerable evidence that the ancestors of modern elephants were aquatic animals. Giant in size though they may be, elephants, like whales, are surprisingly agile in the water. When food is scarce, some elephants may swim more than 100 miles from shore for food.

Nuclear weapons, which are much more powerful than conventional explosives, derive thier destructive force from nuclear reactions of fission or fusion. The first nuclear weapons ever used in wars were so powerful that they caused unimaginable destruction. In 1945, the United States dropped two atomic bombs, code-named"Little Boy"and"Fat Man," on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan. The two bombs resulted in the immediate deaths of around 100,000 to 200,000 individuals. Some criticized that the use of two weapons were were unnecessary acts of mass killing. Nuclear weapons have been used in warfare since then.
