【過卡】的英文怎麼說 ?
過卡 = swipe the card (在機器上過一下，一個單純的動作)，
(【刷卡】的英文也一樣是 swipe the card)。
大飯店c/i時，會先【過卡預取一個額度】，這就等於是刷卡某一個金額，只是此金額是一個預估的金額，而且沒有要你簽名。(租車時也一樣)
【過卡預取一個額度】其實就是【過卡預先得取一個額度的授權】，也就是【過(刷)卡先扣住你某一個額度】，例如旅館先【過(刷)你的卡，先扣住你3,000元額度】，醬子做可以驗明你的卡是有效的，是可以使用的，旅館向銀行請款該額度時是可以拿得到錢的。
【過卡預取一個額度】 的英文怎麼說?
簡單說：
swipe the card and place an authorization hold of a certain amount.
或
swipe the card to process an authorization and place a pre-authorization hold of a certain amount.
authorization hold也叫做 preauthorization，或 card authorization，或 preauth。

樓上的與【預取一個額度】無關：
reserve. = 訂位，預約，訂房。
reserve with the credit card. = 用信用卡訂位(預約，訂房)。
swipe the credit card for reservation. = 刷信用卡取得訂位(預約，訂房)。

看起來像是旅館向你預刷一筆金額以防萬一，事實上是旅館的目的是藉此驗證你的卡，同時向發卡銀行索取某一金額的授權，有時候，旅館預刷 3,000元，簽單給你看清楚是 3,000元，甚至金額是空白的，一塊錢也沒有，也並沒有要你簽名，但是事實上也許旅館已經向發卡銀行索取了 10,000元金額的授權(沒印出來而已)。
