in order to 和 for the purpose

in order to 和 for the purpose

這兩句這樣寫對嗎??

1.In order not to put on flesh, he did great deal excercise!

2.For the purpose of not to put on flesh, he did great deal excercise!

第二句如果,一定要用不要變胖的說法,而不是為了要保持身材, for the purpose 怎樣用於"為不要怎樣...而....."

    put on flesh 發胖

    1. In order not to put on flesh, he did great deal excercise! (X)

→ In order not to put on flesh, he did a great deal of excercise. (O)

= He did a great deal of exercise so as not to put on flesh. (O)

great deal是不正確的, 應改為a great deal of.

in order (not) to = so as (not) to

    2. For the purpose of not to put on flesh, he did great deal excercise! (X)

→ For the purpose of not putting on flesh, he did a great deal of excercise. (O)

    of後面不可用不定詞, 而要用動名詞Ving;

for the purpose of + not 動名詞 : 這正是您所問的"為不要怎樣...而....." 之用法.

put on flesh = put on weight = gain weight

    You could say,

In order to not gain weight (or put on weight), he did a great deal of exercise!

    To use "for the purpose":

For the purpose of not gaining weight (or putting on weight), he did a great deal of exercise!

用in order to的時候 後面要加原形動詞 (to gain or to put)

用for the purpose of 的時候 後面變成在形容一個名詞,所以 gainning weight (or putting on weight) 這個字變成名詞

for the purpose of後面接的是名詞或動名詞, 因此, 第二句需寫成...

For the purpose of not putting on ...

    對了, 變胖大部分是用put on weight或gain weight唷.
