To be frank, I do not bless those who create me problems, as you suggest, but tend to remind them that tehy're a pain in the neck to others. There are lots of these people here and I tend to put them where they belong without reserves. I'm not used to someone creating problems for me without paying a price and, what is more, I believe that such a combative attitude is the absolute requirement for progress.

Still, I have tolerance toward those who, like you, don't care much about improving things but remain inactive. I know you don't want more from others because you've never had more. You are the one who seems to lack tolerance toward people like me, who want more from life because they know it's successfully done in other societies and it can be done here, too. The example of a better life has already been given by so many other cultures; now it's time for Taiwan to catch up with those, I think, rather than tell the world that living in a mess should be the new global mantra.

As you can see, I'm more interested in where things with us might be going in the future than in where they are right now. From the questions you ask, you don't care much about possible improvements but about the present state of affairs and how high you score right now--indeed, as if things were going to remain mostly unchanged in the future. This worries me a bit, but I prefer to wait. The best of our lives is still to come, and perhaps also the worst
