問題2: who前面的,又是怎麼一回事?-->關代,借代先行詞"a prostitute"(一名妓女)
a) It is said that the great misician was born by a protitute.
b) The prostitute deserted him soon after his birth.
先行詞: a prostitute-->人-->用who借代
這裡的"a prostitute"並未被清楚的定義,不應用補述用法(extra information),因此我會建議這裡who前的逗點應該刪除(敬請參照Cambridge Grammar In Use/ Intermediate/ U92 )

* It is said-->據說,代表未經證實,一切都是推斷,因此無法直接認定"a prostitute"就是"唯一生下他的那個妓女".如果今天這是一個事實,應該會寫成"The great musician was borne by a prostitute, who deserted him soon after his birth."你毋須提及那名妓女在生下他後隨及拋棄了他,讀者也能清楚知道這名妓女就是"生下他的母親".

His only son, who came to Cannada for study, is coming back next week. Even you remove the adjective sentence, we still know who you are taliking about, the basic meaning is still the same.

However,"It is said that the great musician was borne by a prostitute, who
deserted him soon after his birth." here, no matter we remove the adjective clause or not, we still have no idea who "a prostitute" was.

you don't get what I meant, here we only know a prostitute "possibly" labored this musician and who also deserted him, even we put a comma right after the prostitute, we still have no idea about who she was, was he indeed born by a prostitute?

If he "was" born by a prostitute, we might know her name, we may write in this way, The great musician was born by a prostitute, whose name was OOO, deserted him right after his birth. I gotta run for a class, will make I what written in the grammar book later.

His only son, who came to Cannada for study, is coming back next week. In this example, the relative clauses do not tell you which person or thing the speaker means. We already know which things or person is meant.

But in the sentence "The great musician was borne by a prostitute, who deserted him soon after his birth." not only the relative sentence can't show which one you refer to, nor can the main clause, you still cannot tell me who is "a prostitute".

As I mentioned in the very beginning, since the sentance starts with "It is said", we can't exactly know if there really existed such a woman who labored this great musician, that's why I think "a prostitute" isn't well-defined.
