This terra-cotta head, measuring 36-cm (14-in) high, was found in the Nok Valley in central Nigeria. It is attributed to the Iron Age Nok culture that flourished in this region between 500 bc and ad 200. The head displays stylized facial features and probably belonged to a complete figure. It is in the collection of the National Museum, Lagos, Nigeria.
