The New York Times

In Korea, Manual Labor and Wounded Pride

Just as distinctly Korean may be the lengths to which some go to hide their newly humble status.

Just as distinctly Korean may be the lengths to which some go to hide their newly humble status.

lengths 在這裡的意思是 "the extent to which a person might or would go in pursuing something" ,例句:

He went to great lengths to get what he wanted.

或者 "a large extent or expanse of something."

    2. But they often have a distinctly Korean twist, with former white-collar workers going into more physically demanding work or traditional kinds of manual labor that are relatively well paid here — from farming and fishing to the professional back-scrubbers who clean patrons at the nation’s numerous public bathhouses.

Just as distinctly, Korean may be the lengths to which some go to hide their newly humble status.

    1. in a distinct manner; clearly (清楚地,清晰地) : Speak more distinctly.

    2. without doubt; unmistakably(無疑地,確實地)

Just as distinctly, Korean may be the lengths to which some go to hide their newly humble status.

The lengths [to which some go to hide their newly humble status] may be just as distinctly Korean [as the twist mentioned above -- 文法上是有錯誤的

Just as distinctly Korean may be the lengths to which some go to hide their newly humble status.

The lengths [to which some go to hide their newly humble status] may be just as distinctly Korean [as the twist mentioned above --

in a distinct and distinguishable manner; "the subtleties of this distinctly British occasion"

    http://wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=disti...

Just as distinctly Korean may be the lengths to which some go to hide their newly humble status.

這是倒裝句 動詞是 (may) be, 主詞是 the lengths, 動詞之前是主詞補語 just as distinctly Korean.

The lengths to which some go to hide their newly humble status may be just as distinctly Korean.
