微積分的算法

1. A small island is 2 miles from the nearest point P on the stralight shoreline

of a large lake.If a woman on the island can row a boat 3 miles per hour and

can walk 4 miles per hour,where should the boat be landed in order to arrive

at a town 10 miles down the shore from P in the least time?

2. One end of a 27-foot ladder rests on the ground and the other end rests on

the top of an 8-foot wall.As the bottom end is pushed along the ground

toward the wall,the top end extends beyond the wall.Find the maximum

horizontal overhang of the top end.
