1. Judging from the Apology, Socrates’s values seem perfectly compatible with those of Jesus, especially as expounded in the Sermon on the Mount. When Socrates says, “The difficult thing, gentlemen, isn’t escaping death; escaping villainy is much more difficult, since it runs faster than death,” he seems to be explaining not only his own persecution by the Athenians but also the crucifixion of Jesus. However, the deaths of these two victims of mob violence serve two different purposes. Discuss the difference.
2. Both Aeneas (of The Aeneid) and St. Augustine (of the Confessions) are characterized by their devotion to a single goal. How do the goals shape their lives and thoughts respectively?

呵呵 真的是遇到大麻煩了吧! ^^
alright let's get to the point.
1. I would strongly recommend you to make illusions to the garden of eden where adam and eve were lured by the so called evil serpent. This question at its core asks you the definition of a victim and the justification of presecution. Thus, i would provide a counter attack by stating my thoughts that the serpent in the garden of eden in fact serves as a way through enlightenment for human beings. In ways, this justifies the fact that humans are both the victims of that incident but also the beneficiaries. Apology and Socrates have completely different values when put side by side with jesus, yet there are some parallels you can compare them to. THink about their sacrafices and devotion for the greater good, their intentions, and consequences for disobeying the societal norm.
2. Aeneas was the son of Anchises and Aphrodite and the hero of Virgil's Aeneid. His devotion for a single goal is to save troy when it is sacked by the greeks. As a warrior, he fought unti lthe last moment until he was forced to leave the city as the gods ordered him to leave. THrough this incident, it is clear that Aeneas has a stubborn personality. He is persistent in his life and would strive to reach that goal. St.Augustine on the other hand also has a strong devotion towards a single goal. As a major bishop in the catholic church, he devotes his life towards spreading christianity in the name of god. His life is thus fulled of religious beliefs.

All the evidence suggests that blind adults have fully comparable endpoints to sighted adults. But did they follow the same path as children? This is a hotly debated issue. There is no doubt that, as Lila Gleitman, Barbara Landau and their colleagues have emphasized, the language of blind children shows many of the same features as sighted children, despite the lack of input from vision. (For these researchers, blind children provide clear evidence for the innateness of language.) Other researchers, such as Elaine Andersen and Elaine Andersen (Dunlea 1989), however, emphasise the specific problems with language that blind children present, and see this as evidence for the power of input in shaping the linguistic system.
