Many debris flows happened early days. Why? Because we cut down too many tree rottenly and planted too many arecas on the slope land. 而造成土石鬆動，當下大雨時由於檳榔樹的抓地力不足，而導致土石流的發生。
One of the most serious debris flows that we know is the one happened on Father’s Day, August 8, 2009. It was suppose to be a warm and happy day to celebrate. But the typhoon Morakot came and brought a lot of rain. 因為水土保持不佳This caused the Hsien-Tu Mountain(獻肚山) tumbled and buried the entire town of Xiaolin(小林村). Killing an estimated about 500 people in the village alone.(這句我覺得怪怪的)

There are many mudslides recently. Why? Because we cut down a lot of native plants on slopes and to replace them with cash crops , whose shallow roots cannot enable earth to be anchored well. When heavy rain comes, there would be mudslide.
There was a severe mudslide on 2009 Fathers’ Day, August 8th, which should be a warm and happy date to celebrate. However, while typhoon Morakot bringing heavy rains, as a result of poor earth-anchoring, Hsien-Tu Mountain tumbled. The tremendous amount of mudslide smashed and buried the entire Xiaolin village. Estimated 500 people were sacrificed.
This tragedy reminds us to further understand the root cause of mudslide. Why it happened? Why could it bury so many people in a sudden and cause tremendous damage?參考資料： 小毛
