hello I am so glad to answer for you
1) if you maintain something, you make it continue
= I've tried to maintain contact with my friends.
2) if you maintain a machine or a building, you keep them in good condition
= A big house is very expensive to maintain.
1) if you remain in a place, you do not move from that place
= she remained at home, waiting for his phone call.
2) something that remains, it continues
= other dangers still remain
So as you can see, they are absolutely diffferent, and in my view learning
English should be in English, and it doesn't work in Chinese

I think [ maintain ] is an act that is done on purpose
[ remain ] comes out naturally.

to maintain means to keep something in the same condition
but not necessarily being used in "human"
EG. to maintain the quality of the products
it would be awkward if you use remain here...
to remain is to keep something or someone in exactly the same conditon or position
EG. he remains concious
maintain is not suitable for this sentence
to sum up,
also to remain means to exist!參考資料： ME (stuying abroad in uk at the mo)\
