我很抱歉要指出, 這題是命題老師凸槌了, 正確答案竟有兩個, 這為命題老師應該重修文法課程!!
How much ______ the box _______ ?
(A)is, weigh ← 錯誤. is與weigh都是動詞, 這可不行, 一山不容二虎囉!
(B)is. weight ← 正解. box weight是複合名詞, 等於the weight of box.
(C)does, weigh ← 正解. 動詞weigh意思是「秤重為」, 是一個「物主動」類的動詞. does是助動詞三單.
(D)does, weight ← 錯誤. does是助動詞, weight是名詞, 這樣本句就沒動詞了.
命題老師誤以為只有(C)正確, 其實(B)也是正確的. 兩個以上的名詞串在一起, 成為複合名詞, 前者修飾後者, 這種例子比比皆是:
the box weight 箱重
the body weight 體重
the total diamond weight 鑽石總重
the excess tyre weight 備胎重
the tare weight 車身重量;皮重
the motor weight 馬達重
the student club activity 學生聯誼會活動

若要改用How many也可以, 但要附加單位:

"How much do you weight?" is equivalent to "How much is your (body) weight?"
The latter may be less popular but not wrong.

因為 weigh 是動詞,所以要用 助動詞 does

為何用how much 而不是how many問是因為此是問重量,而重量在英文是不可數

講文法不是說很多就是對,尤其是 How much is the box weight? 真是為了使文法看起來正確而勉強的說法...這種說法很少見,但文法確實沒錯

How much是針對【不可數的東西問多少?】
例如：How much money do you have?你有多少錢?
How mamy是針對【可數的東西問多少?】
例如：How many books do you have?你有多少書?
另外How much也可以用在【問價錢】上，
例如：How much is the bike?這腳踏車多少元?
關於這一題，
is配weight是很合，沒錯，但不是這樣用的！
weight是不可數名詞，所以一定要用is，
例如：My wieght is 65kg.我的體重是65公斤。
但是在這一題裡，問重量，
weigh是動詞，只能配合does，來完成這一句【這箱子有多重?】
如果一定要用is和weight的話，可以改成這樣：
How much is the weight of the box?這箱子的重量是多少?
