你的英文已經學到這麼仔細的部分, 我想應該可以用英文回答你, 這對我的英文keyboard容易些.
1. The words you mentioned are actually listed as "synonyms", which means words with similar meanings. A specialty dictionary called "thesaurus" 同義辭典 will be helpful.
I would suggest you to look into this website for meanings of individual words:
This website also has an online thesaurus:
2. It is more efficient to learn vocabulary within certain content instead of memorizing it as a single word.
Let me use your 2nd example to explain:
If you had learned "lawn" and "meadow" from articles, you would never think they mean the same things. 說中文的人會覺得容易搞混是因為都用"草地"來翻譯.
和meadow 相近的字應該是:prairie, pasture(野地的草原) ,
而lawn=cultivated area of green grass 是有人工照顧的草皮.
My point is: if you want to get deeper in learning English, you need to
quit translating it into Chinese to memorize the meaning of new words. Instead, try to learn the new words in sentences and articles, which will help you think in English. 如意見中有人說的:用英英字典是個好方法.

When you come to that level, you should use an English dictionary.
By the way, my understanding of "tomb" and "grave" differs from yours. 圓形凸起 or 凹下 doesn't matter. 墓室 is a key word.

There are also differences in Chinese characters. How many of us know it?
grave, a hole in the ground for burying a dead body, can only be translated into 墓, NOT 墳墓
