英文: “...reserve under fire..."

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/26/nyregion/26salon...

其中Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly給於Feris Jones的評價是: “her reserve under fire was matched only by her marksmanship.”

敢問什麼是 "someone's reserve under fire..."?

1. the quality that somebody has when they do not talk easily to other people about their ideas, feelings, etc.

2. a feeling that you do not want to accept or agree to something, etc. until you are quite sure that it is all right to do so 謹慎;保留

雖然這種用法並不常見,然而“Reserve”作名詞用的時候,含有“coolness or formality of manner; restraint, silence, or reticence”的意思。

    參考http://www.thefreedictionary.com/reserve。所以“Her reserve under fire…”
