As the flow of ideas slowed,Ms. James said,Well we’ve thought of many options.Which ones should we implement? Ms. James nodded.It is difficult with such children.But,they need to hear the message again and again in many different forms,just the way you are doing:How would you feel if so and so did the same to you?What are other ways of being able to do such and such?How could you do that,and,yet,so and so do what she wants to do? A pause,and then Mr. Barnes picked up the conversation while looking at the list of options,But you know,I think we’ve identified several options that we could start implementing to help Susy live and work more cooperatively at school and at home.One would be to use the time-out chair as a cooling off.Another would be for me to plan with her as we come to school.I could tell her about my plans at work,too.
