    我會這麼翻: 1.我的生命一直是條直線,轉彎,是為了遇見你。

My life had been a straight line -- it took a turn just to meet you.

    2.要殺死一個大學生最好的辦法是拔掉他的網路線

The best way to kill a college student is to unplug his internet connection.

好熱鬧的版面. Are we having a party or what!

    2010-12-16 01:11:12 補充:

Folks: why don't we just affirm that (1) even the bests disagree on some aspects of expression; (2) comments do not always have to be affirmative; (3) there is no need to get personal...

    2010-12-16 01:11:37 補充:

...(4) English proficiency is not always reflected on the percentage of answers being chosen as "best" -- here in YK+, and (5) turning a party into a brawl leaves everyone with a bitter taste.

我的生命一直是條直線,轉彎,是為了遇見你。My life would've been monotonous had it not veered just to meet you.要殺死一個大學生最好的辦法是拔掉他的網路。It's by cutting him off the internet that you can best slay a college guy.

monotonous: 因單一而使人厭倦的; 無變化的; 無聊的veer: 轉彎slay: 殺死, 殺害

    所以是

My life had been a straight line before I met you; I made the turn so I could bump into you

    嗎?

    Your two cents is wrong..

    bump into的確是意外遇到, 而我今天是made the turn來製造這個意外...

    英文是要靈活運用而非以台式思考來運作...

    Just my two cents...

    2010-12-15 07:05:10 補充:

    No Dark Helmet

    I could = 我可以

    I would = 我能

而你的 "My life, whose cours"是錯的, 因為 只有人後面才可以放"whose"

    我都沒有攻擊你的答案你卻還要指出我的錯? = - =

    2010-12-15 07:06:24 補充:

    This is fun...

    這個房間又多了Master JR跟Kevin兩位高手

Let the party begin indeed ^ - ^

    2010-12-15 07:10:01 補充:

On second thought, Kevin always tries to one-up me by explaining his answer more thoroughly than mine...

So I guess the smart thing to do is for me to bail out of here and let the masters brawl against each other..

    See ya

    2010-12-15 11:53:01 補充:

I do not want to argue with you Dark Helmet

We in the States do not always write out complete sentences to express what we mean

People have common sense, and know exactly what each other is talking about without paying attention to every detail of grammar

    2010-12-15 11:53:26 補充:

As to my former sentence, both “could” and “would” can be used in this context; there is nothing wrong

用bump into恐怕是弄巧成拙, 因為bump into是意外遇到, 而made the turn是主動意志, made the turn so I could bump into you邏輯上產生矛盾.

    Just my two cents.

My life, whose course had always been a straight line, took a turn for the sole purpose of meeting you.

The best way to kill a college student is unplugging his network cable.

    2010-12-14 22:21:45 補充:

whose course 也可用 the course of which

    2010-12-15 02:35:48 補充:

    Infinity had a valid point

    或許不該說矛盾,而是不符原意,

could bump into you 讓 made the turn 製造的只是這個意外的機會或可能性

如果你用 would bump into you 才是製造這個意外.

    2010-12-15 08:19:23 補充:

    請上Dictionary.com 查 whose,

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/whose

    在 definition 2 妳會看到

(the possessive case of which used as an adjective): a word whose meaning escapes me; an animal whose fur changes color.

    2010-12-15 08:28:00 補充:

I call it like I see it, OK?

    1. 我是為發問者“指出”,不是為妳

    2. 妳為什麼會認為是“攻擊” 呢?

It seems to me like an inferiority complex.

    如果發現我犯了錯, 希望大家盡量“攻擊”我

    這樣我只有這次 沒面子“, 如果沒人糾正我,不知道還要”沒面子“幾次

    BTW, 妳發表的第二個意見也有點問題....(待續)

    2010-12-15 09:03:00 補充:

    建議, 不是攻擊哦! mine 加 I explain 或 I do/did

或簡單說 more thoroughly than I 就可以了

    否則妳是在說 Kevin解釋自己的答案比他解釋妳的答案詳細

    當然很可能這就是妳的本意 恕我不知道 kevin 有幫你解釋答案的習慣

    教別人要靈活運用而非以台式思考來運作.卻又高談 I could = 我可以 I would = 我能....

Do As I Say, Not As I Do 是刺猬病的病徵嗎?

    P.S. 這才叫做攻擊!

    2010-12-15 11:53:52 補充:

Why not think of their present tense counterparts?

Are you really gonna tell me that "I can" is as affirmative as "I will"?

    2010-12-15 13:42:37 補充:

What part of the States are we talking about? Hickory Indiana?

Yes, I live in Taiwan now, but FYI, I was born and raised in the State. I took English honors classes all through high school, and my English and math SAT scores were among the top 17 percent and 1 percent nationwide, respectively.

    2010-12-15 13:48:57 補充:

    一般人比較少用是他們的自由,我要用是我的自由

    問題出在看不懂的人身上,不在蘿莉身上

I never talk about my background here because I think best answers shouldn't be awarded based on "what you are", but rather on "what you know".

    2010-12-15 13:56:08 補充:

Those with substantial knowledge would've figured that I was an ABC. You, judging from that pathetic attempt of referring yourselves as "us in the States", apparently had no clue.

By the way, you forgot "Us in the States are not all literate either".
