我們今天上英文課的時候在檢討第三冊的複習考卷!!((我只有國三....

有一題是圖表的問題

題目中問說

How many people studied last Sunday?

因為題目上有一個人是在''study'' math跟 Chinese

可是有兩個人是在''read'' (後面甚麼都沒寫..)

最後答案是給三個人

可是

題目明明是在問studied

為什麼到最後答案是給3個人啊??

結果我們老師說這兩個單字是一樣意思的.....((我們老師很資深...

可是我之前學校的老師(因為我是轉學生)教我們的是

study有研讀跟讀書的意思

read則是像看小說 看漫畫的意思

我覺得這兩個不同

可是為甚麼答案是這樣??

而且老師也是這樣覺得??

是的,您前一位老師說的是正確的.

read: to look at and understand the meaning of written or printed words or symbols.

study: to spend time learning about a subject by reading, going to college.

兩者在中文意思都是「讀」,但是目的卻有差別.

基本上國中英文不會談到細節,

不過你那位資深的老師的答案令人有點意外,

建議可以去找他討論,並予以修正或者就算了.

But that is archaic.

According to the Oxford Dictionary, "read" can be applied to "study a subject at university", but it is rather old-fashioned.

Here is an example:

I read English at Oxford.

But actually it is hard to make the definition between them, isn't it?

People say they are identical, but others or dictionary may not.

to me, reading is a means for studying.

if someone is reading school related materials, very likely she is studying.

if someone is reading life related materials, very likely she is studying;

Same when I was playing video games - just to study the user interface of the game!

就單字來說，你先前的老師分辨較深入。但你如果能將題目掃描貼上來，大家看一看，也許你現在的老師有他的理由。 read 不光是讀小說，讀教科書也可以。
