    A. 先比較 very/extremely 的區別 It’s difficult to do it. (很難)It’s very difficult to do it. (非常難)It’s extremely difficult to do it. (極為困難)It’s very, very difficult, extremely difficult to track down those people in the desert.

由以上四個例句應可感受出very/extremely程度上的區別 B. 程度上terribly/extremely是屬同等級的,只是terribly較常用來形容「負面的」形容詞,因為terribly本身就有『壞透、糟透了』的意思,譬如: wrong; sorry; sad; difficult; disappointed; concerned; afraid; worried; serious; bad; sorry; painful; ill; sick; lonely; uncomfortable; complicated; embarrassed; frustrating; hot; shy; cold; complex; angry; destructive; frightened; guilty; upset; vulnerable; cruel; unfortunate; nervous; unusual; controversial; tired; ashamed; boring; tragic; traumatic; slow; disturbing 等等 所以A項最後一個一句的extremely difficult,也可用terribly difficult替換之。其餘例句還有:Something had gone terribly wrong with Justin. Now, let me make this clear, this is a terribly sad story.I am terribly sorry that he'll never be the same. The Queen is terribly disappointed in the Prince. He's nothing but a wastrel. C. 當然terribly也可用來形容其它「正面」或「不好不壞」的句子,只是此時它也可以extremely 代之: I think, I didn't do a terribly good job.I mean, it's a terribly happy song, you know, just don't even think about the blues. What you're saying so far makes it sound like it is not terribly different than it was.
