為何一個英文句子 有這麼多逗點??

They include,Stengel said, “the men and women around the world, particularly in the MiddleEast, who toppled governments, who brought democracy and dignity to people whohadn’t had it before.” 請問以上的逗點為何可以擺那麼多?我看不出他的形式

    "They include," Stengel said, “the men and women around the world, particularly in the Middle East, who toppled governments, who brought democracy and dignity to people who hadn’t had it before.”

    第一個和第二個逗號表示Stengel said變成插入語,因為Stengel said(說這句話的人)是主詞和動詞,所說的話是受詞,本來主詞和動詞應該在受詞的前面:Stengel said, "They ...."。但主詞和動詞移到受詞中,把受詞隔成兩段。

    第三個和第四個逗號表示particularly in the Middle East是插入語,把who toppled govermetns子句與其修飾的名詞men and women隔開了。

    第五個逗號表示後面的who broought ...子句不是修飾前面的名詞governments,而是更前面的名詞men and women。同時也讓who toppled...與who brought ...這兩個形容詞子句取得平行的地位。

    It is hard to explain punctuation marks to the people whose language is logographic and/or syllabic. I think the concept is foreign to Taiwanese.
