Since you asked about the difference in meaning and how to use them. Instead of giving you definitions, let me use examples to explain. Hopefully, you can read English well.

    First, fault and mistake:

I DID OR SAID SOMETHING THAT WAS INCORRECT / IMPROPER / HURTFUL / DISRESPECTFUL / INCONSIDERATE.

    Those are all mistakes.

I AM THE ONE WHO IS RESPONSBLE FOR SAYING OR DOING SOMETHING THAT WAS INCORRECT / IMPROPER / HURTFUL / DISRESPECTFUL / INCONSIDERATE.....

It is my fault that I made those mistakes. I can't blame anyone else. I was wrong, so those mistakes (wrong thoughts or actions) are my fault (because of me and no one else).

    Now, wrong and mistake:

Murder, for example, is not a mistake; it is instead clearly wrong. Meanwhile, suppose that I chose to follow my usual route to the store, not knowing that there was construction on the road and that using this route would cause the trip to take an extra hour. I have done nothing wrong, but I have made a mistake.

If there are any mistakes in my explanation above, they could be my fault, but I wish I could blame the mistakes/errors on my computer or maybe even Microsoft :)

I try to give you a feeling about English !!!

    2012-05-06 22:45:06 補充:

Of course, you might be able to understand what I said above, but to get the feeling firmly planted in your mind, you still need to practice more.

    2012-05-06 23:10:42 補充:

If you cannot read English well, it is my mistake to give all English explanation, there is nothing wrong with English, so it is my fault.

    2012-05-07 00:50:19 補充:

master 26535! You are killing me, my grammar is NOT as clear as crystal ball. I can only use English by feeling, not by rules ! But I can tell "mistake" can be verb and noun, "fault" is a noun, "wrong" is an adjective.

    2012-05-07 00:51:45 補充:

Of course, they might have other usages I don't know of (or slip my mind), so the mistake is my fault.

    2012-05-07 00:54:31 補充:

Look like you have chased a drunken me from "articulate" to "mistake, wrong, fault" :-) ... After one night sleep, I think I am sober now ! So how much is the ticket for the mistake I made !!

    2012-05-07 05:06:57 補充:

This is why I am NOT able to make comparison, but show them in the sentence how they can be used.

    2012-05-07 10:13:50 補充:

master 26535! I fully agree with your saying about their all being nouns. The problem is they may NOT be used as nouns in the same sentence, like I said:

It is my mistake to give all English explanation, there is nothing wrong with English, so it is my fault

    2012-05-07 10:19:44 補充:

In the above sentence, we ALL know "mistake, fault" are used as nouns, and "wrong" is used as an adjective. There is NO way to make "wrong" as a noun without changing the sentence structure.

    2012-05-07 10:21:29 補充:

Besides, even though they are all used as nouns, they are not interchangeable.

    Like the example you have:

all wrongs must not only be undone but also be righted.

    2012-05-07 10:30:04 補充:

In the above sentence, you can replace "wrong" with "mistake" but the meaning CHANGES.

    2012-05-08 12:43:15 補充:

I will try to ask a friend of mine to translate it for you, if she has time !!!

    2012-05-09 02:38:55 補充:

Citron! I really appreciate your help. I think I will consider to remove my English version answer later. It is my fault to use ALL English, and you came to rescue me. You shall have all the credit !!! After all, my answer is NO use to the poster.

    我們都知道,在以上句子中,mistake和fault是被當成名詞來使用,而wrong則是被當成形容詞來使用。您無法在不更動句子結構的前提下,讓wrong這個字變成名詞。

    DaSaGwa:

Since you asked about the difference in meaning and how to use them. Instead of giving you definitions, let me use examples to explain. Hopefully, you can read English well.

    既然您問的是意思和用法的差別,與其給您這些字的定義,倒不如讓我用例子來解釋給您聽。希望您看得懂英文。

    First, fault and mistake:

    首先,讓我來解釋fault和mistake的差別。

I DID OR SAID SOMETHING THAT WAS INCORRECT / IMPROPER / HURTFUL / DISRESPECTFUL/ INCONSIDERATE.

    我說了或做了一些不正確(incorrect)/不恰當(improper)/傷人或有害(hurtful)/失禮(disrespectful)/不體貼他人或欠考慮(inconsiderate)的言行。

    Those are all mistakes.

    以上全都是mistakes(錯誤)。

I AM THE ONE WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SAYING OR DOING SOMETHING THAT WAS INCORRECT / IMPROPER / HURTFUL / DISRESPECTFUL / INCONSIDERATE.....

    我就是那個必須對這些不正確(incorrect)/不恰當(improper)/傷人或有害(hurtful)/失禮(disrespectful)/不體貼他人或欠考慮(inconsiderate)之言行負責的人。

It is my fault that I made those mistakes. I can't blame anyone else. I was wrong, so those mistakes (wrong thoughts or actions) are my fault (because of me and no oneelse).

    犯了這些錯誤(mistakes)是我的過失(fault)。我不能責怪其他任何人。我錯了,因此這些錯誤(mistakes)(不對的想法或行為)是我的過失(fault)(是我引起的,不是其他任何人引起的)。

    Now, wrong and mistake:

    現在,讓我來解釋wrong和mistake的差別。

Murder, for example, is not a mistake; it is instead clearly wrong. Meanwhile, suppose that I chose to follow my usual route to the store, not knowing that there was construction on the road and that using this route would cause the trip to take an extra hour. I have done nothing wrong, but I have made a mistake.

    舉例來說,謀殺絕對是項不對的惡行(wrong),而不只是因失誤而犯下的過錯(mistake)。但假設我因為不知道前面的道路正在施工而按照平常走的路線前往我要去的店家,以致於讓自己多花了一個小時的時間才到達店家;在這種情況下,我並沒有作惡(wrong),我只不過是弄錯了(mistake)而已。

If there are any mistakes in my explanation above, they could be my fault, but I wish I could blame the mistakes/errors on my computer or maybe even Microsoft :)

    如果我在以上的解釋中犯了些錯誤(mistake),也許那是我的過失(fault),但我真希望可以將這些錯誤/差錯推到我的電腦甚至Microsoft身上。:)

    (譯註:這句話是DaSaGwa大大在開玩笑。)

I try to give you a feeling about English !!!嗯,我只是想讓您對英文更有感覺!!!

Of course, you might be able to understand what I said above, but to get the feeling firmly planted in your mind, you still need to practice more.

    也許您能看得懂我以上所說的,但若要讓這些感覺深植在腦海中,您仍須多加練習。

If you cannot read English well, it is my mistake to give all English explanation, there is nothing wrong with English, so it is my fault.

    若您看不太懂英文,那麼,全部用英文來解釋給您聽的這個行為的確是我的錯誤(mistake)。英文無罪(wrong),一切都是我的過失(fault)。

    (譯註:在這裡,DaSaGwa大大再度以半開玩笑的方式來讓您對這些字更有感覺。)

This is why I am NOT able to make comparison, but show them in the sentence how they can be used.

    這就是為何我無法做比較,而選擇用例句來解釋其用法的原因。

    意見010 (DaSaGwa)

master 26535! I fully agree with your saying about their all being nouns. The problem is they may NOT be used as nouns in the same sentence, like I said:

    26535大師:您說這些字全都可以被當成名詞使用,這點我完全贊同!問題是,它們未必可以在同一個句子中全都被當成名詞來使用。例如我在回答欄所說的這句話:

    2012-05-09 02:43:45 補充:

    (承意見018)

It is my mistake to give all English explanation, there is nothing wrong with English, so it is my fault

    全部用英文來解釋給您聽的這個行為的確是我的錯誤(mistake)。英文無罪(wrong),一切都是我的過失(fault)。

    2012-05-09 02:44:12 補充:

    意見011 (DaSaGwa)

In the above sentence, we ALL know "mistake, fault" are used as nouns, and "wrong" is used as an adjective. There is NO way to make "wrong" as a noun without changing the sentence structure.

Melon soup, to me, is as clear as mud. But anyway, how about their usages?

Are they all nouns, verbs, adjective? Now, Melon dude, analyze this.

    2012-05-07 04:40:59 補充:

Isn't it weird for the poster to ask for the comparison among a noun+verb, an adjective, and an noun? Why didn't she ask for the comparison between an apple and a computer? Or a melon and a princess?

No, I am not chasing no one. My pink pony brought me here.

    You bad pony!

    2012-05-07 09:01:01 補充:

But I think the poster figured that they all can be nouns and I do agree with her on this.

For example - all wrongs must not only be undone but also be righted.

The wrongs here is a noun. But anyway, the smart poster must be able to feel the differences from your examples.

    我自己覺得啦

    fault 和 wrong 有時候意思用法感覺同等

    wrong 還有不對的感覺

    mistake 指失誤的錯誤..吧
