多益考題解釋_分詞形容詞

Employees _______ reimbursement for business-related calls from their personal cellular phone will be reimbursed on condition they present an itemized statement to the Accounting Division.

(A) seek

(B) seeks

(C) seeking

(D) will seek

本題答案是 (C) , 考分詞形容詞.

可以有人幫我詳細解釋為什麼答案是C嗎? 為什麼不放動詞 A???

謝謝

    先還原成原句

Employees who seek reimbursement for business-related calls from their personal cellular phone will be reimbursed on condition they present an itemized statement to the Accounting Division.

Employees { seek} reimbursement for business-related calls from their personal cellular phone {will be reimbursed} on condition they present an itemized statement to the Accounting Division.

    我可以把原句拆成兩個個別的句子給你比較看看。

Employees SEEK reimbursement for business-related calls from their personal cellular phone.

Employees will be reimbursed on condition they present an itemized statement to the Accounting Division.

    用關係代名詞來結合兩句,就會變回題目中看到的句子。

    Employees who seek , 再把seek去掉改成seeking耶

    這句是複數沒錯啊

    我沒寫成Employees who seeks ,就是複數啊

那請問who seek 省略後可以直接變成+ing or ed的 分詞形容詞嗎??

    只有省掉關代和BE,本題沒有BE,只省略WHO,把Verb改成 seeking

    從另一個角度來看這個問題: 為甚麼要用到 relative clauses?

    Employees will be reimbursed.

    甚麼樣的 employees?

所有: All employees [will be reimbursed.]

    合乎某些條件的:

Employees taking (主動) courses [will be reimbursed.] 或

Employees who take courses [will be reimbursed.]

Employees injured (被動) at work [will be reimbursed.] 或

Employees who are injured at work [will be reimbursed.]

    觀察以上句型, 學習並模仿之, 舉一反三就行了.

    以下文字摘自前任ETS多益考試主任Susan Chyn的書:

In English we modify nouns and noun phrases in many ways, including through the use of attributive adjectives (adjectives which appear before the noun): “Tycho used simple instruments and practical talents.” In this simple sentence, adjectives serve us well. However, in academic discourse, especially written discourse, writers need more and better tools in their language tool box than just simple adjectives to modify and qualify ideas. One way this is done in English is to “embed” a new sentence within the noun phrase. For example:

    第一個觀測太空的人只有簡單的儀器.

In English, of course, you cannot say “The first observing-space people had simple instruments.” That type of modification doesn’t work because it is too long and cumbersome. Consequently, for longer and more complex ideas, we use relative clauses to modify nouns:

“The people who first observed space had simple instruments.”

Which people had simple instruments? The first people observing space.

“We are able to analyze the light from the objects [that are] being observed.”

What kind of objects? The same objects that we are observing.

English allows great flexibility in attaching relative clauses to the various types of noun phrases. The more you are aware of the various ways to “embed” these modifiers, the more quickly you can read English texts and the more competently you can write (and speak!) about complex ideas.

    為什麼一定要用關帶?

The apple which is on that table tastes great

    是否可以等於

The apple on that table tastes great 嗎?

    不是一樣意思嗎?

Employees who is seeking reimbursement for business-related calls from their personal cellular phone

    是說那些在要求賠償的員工....

    是否可以等於

Employees seek reimbursement for business-related calls from their personal cellular phone

    員工們要求賠償那些xxx的事情

    2012-07-08 15:09:30 補充:

    可是員工是複數的耶...怎麼可以用is seeking??

    回答有一位大師是說Employees who seek , 在把seek去掉改成seeking耶??

    是怎麼回事?

  • 9 年前

    英文的句子結構當中 可能在句點以前 還有多個子句結在一起

    現在你要試著把句子的主角、動作找出來

The apple which is on that table tastes great

    當你嘗試翻譯它 你會翻出:在桌上的頻果嚐起來很美味

    所以,我問你,到底是誰嚐起來很美味?

    桌子嚐起來很美味嗎?

    NO

    回到你的問題來

    你會找到後面還有will be

    你大概可以知道,前面一整串就是這句子的主角

    只是空格到phone這整句是形容詞子句,去修飾員工

    2012-07-08 14:10:08 補充:

The apple which is on that table tastes great

    關代當主詞 硬要省略 把裡頭的動詞殺掉改分詞就可以了

    →being

    碰到being 其實可以再省略 (意思都相同)

Employees who is seeking reimbursement for business-related calls from their personal cellular phone

    原本是這樣子

    假使是被動 最後殘留的會是Vpp

    這就是你要的"分詞"

    2012-07-08 14:43:12 補充:

    關代殺掉 留下來的就是以前常看到的子句了

The apple on that table tastes great

Employees who is seeking ~ will be

→ Employees seeking ~ will be

    而你問題中用seek是錯的

除非把will be改成 ,and they will be ~ (they指員工)

    就可以改seek,只是這樣句子就變更長了 盡量簡潔唄
