be used to

There used to be a tall tree in the back yard when I was child.

There was used to a tall tree in the back yard when I was child.

另外

I was used to the climate here.

I am used to the climate here

didn`t used to

If I were 是依樣的意思嗎?

而didn`t used to 跟 used not to 是依樣的意思嗎?

There used to be a tall tree in the back yard when I was child.

There was used to a tall tree in the back yard when I was child.

    <--- used是動詞, to是不定詞的引導字was used to + Ving/N : 過去習慣於(某動作或某事)

There was used

    to be/Ving/N

There used to be 是There was的延伸形式, 如同There ought to be, There will/

must/can/may be, There is supposed to be, There seems to be, There turned

    out to be,....

I was used to the climate here.

I am used to the climate here

I used to the climate here. I used to like the climate here. (O)

    <---like也可換成enjoy, hate, dislike, study,....

didn`t used to

If I were 是依樣的意思嗎?

正確寫法是: didn't use to (助動詞後面用原式是鐵則)If I were是假設語氣, 語意無關於習慣, 與didn't use to更是風馬牛不相及,

If I were a bird"與習慣有何搭軋?

而didn`t used to 跟 used not to 是依樣的意思嗎?

應是didn't use to 跟 used not to.

There used to be a tall tree in the back yard when I was a child.

"used not to V"的寫法是採不定詞的否定式, 直接加no在to V 之前, 符合文法.

There used to be a tall tree in the back yard when I was a child.

There was used to a tall tree in the back yard when I was a child.

There was once a tall tree in the back yard when I was a child.

    http://english.stackexchange.com/questions/8816/wh...

    另外

I was used to the climate here.

I am used to the climate here

didn`t used to

If I were 是依樣的意思嗎?

    didn`t used to可以併到解釋4看.

    它和 If I were 不一樣.

而didn`t used to 跟 used not to 是依樣的意思嗎?

正式用法,didn`t use to 然而因整句發音類似didn`t used to ,所以也就蕭規曹隨用了,建議少用didn`t used to 。類似例子:would of ----would have--------

ex: I used the computer. 主動

ex: The computer was used by me. 被動

至於didn't used to可不可以這樣用, 那反問可以用did used to嗎??

    所以didn't used to是錯的, 沒有人這樣子用

    要用didn't use to過去不時常, used to過去時常

There used to be a tall tree in the back yard when I was child.

There was used to a tall tree in the back yard when I was child.

I was used to the climate here.

I am used to the climate here.

I used to adapt the climate.

I didn't use to adapt the climate here but I can now.

saying something like "不要跟我說 didn`t used to 沒人這樣用 那代表你不夠資格回答這問題" can only SCARE away those English able masters. Since I am NOT qualified, so let me tell you this:

You can have "be used to", "didn't use to", "use to", or "used to", but NEVER EVER "didn't used to". Unless, English is invented by you, that might be diffierent story!

I cannot even spell "different" correctly, i am really disqualified to answer this question !

I beg to differ on "used to" when used as an idiom meaning "familiar with" and "accustomed to".

The negative form of it in past tense could be:

    1. used NOT to

    2. didn't used to

    3. didn't use to

in the order of preference. Reasons? Because it is an idiom.
