a heavy dose of irony to ...詳解

今天在自由電子報英文新聞讀到一句

.. a heavy dose of irony to ...

In my opinion, "a heavy dose" shall not be translated as "連串的", but "大劑量". Usually, for "irony", we use word like "great" to describe. Here, it is just a little more exaggeration.

Here are some photos for "a heavy dose of irony":

Hopefully, you can get the idea what "a heavy dose" means!

The first one is "made in USA"

The second one is "FIRE TRUCK" on FIRE.

The third one is "drive through".

master 冰封玫瑰! I like your suggestion. "超級諷刺" is a much better term then my direct translation "大劑量諷刺". Without using Chinese for long while, it is deteriorating! Thank you for making it up for me!

The word "dose" usually refers to the quantity of a therapeutic agent (i.e. drug/madicine).

It can also be used to describe as "an amount, espeically of something unpleasant, to which one is subjected."

a heavy dose of irony = 大劑量諷刺

maybe 超級諷刺 will sound better, since in Chinese, you do not use 劑量 to go with 諷刺.

    她的加入給國民黨打了一劑強心針

    她是醫生嗎?她是藥水嗎?

    irony為何不可以用dose修飾呢?
