the sheep VS sheep疑問
robust men shepherding the sheep in the grasslands

"the" is the definite article;it is used to refer to something that has already been mentioned or is easily understood. The sheep was relatively related here ;hence using "the".
It is used to refer to something that is the only, normal or obvious one of their kind, here it is the sheep.
It is used to refer to a thing in general rather than a particular example;Hence the sheep is in general here.
Used with adjectives to refer to a group of sheep described by the adjective the here, hence the sheep.
Hence:-Shepherding the sheep ; expect the unexpected .

I am not perfect? I think I am pretty darn perfect the last time I looked at myself in the mirror!
How is shepherding over the top? It certainly sounds a lot more poetic than herding.

Dirty Panda is not that perfect. It is OK to have him work a little bit more - he will be too fat otherwise.

As for your question, I think Dirty Panda was OK to use "the". However, his "shepherd" is questionable. "Herd" (herding) is more than enough. Shepherding is too over the top.
Well, all men tend to exaggerate on what they do (and have).
