[1 I was so happy that I felt as if I __ wings and could fly
1had 2had had
答案是1 但我覺的是與過去事實相反的假設所以我選2]
這題你錯得很冤枉。 as if 後面不是不能用過去完成式,強調與過去事實相反,但是你看 could fly, 說話的人把 「有翅膀和飛翔」 當做絕對的不可能,沒有過去不可能,現在可能的問題,所以他用 could fly, 而不是用 could + have + p.p.,所以 and 得前後要一致, as if I had winds and could fly。
[2 (a)Super powers have much (b)influence those small countries (c)in many respect
[3 It was a great pity that he ___ in the exam
1has failed 2 have failed
答案是2為什麼]
這題如果一定要在 1, 2 之間選一個,只能選 2。 這是把 it is a pity 用虛擬語氣來表達的用法。
it is a pity 的句型,用虛擬語氣表達,則後面子句現在要用 should + 原形,或過去用 should + have + p.p:
所以這裡是:
It was a great pity that he should have failed in the exam.
然後省略 should,剩下:
It was a great pity that he should have failed in the exam.
所以選 2。
這裡因為有 was 的關係,表示考不及格是過去的事,所以不要用現在完成式。
不過在實際應用上,這種情況用虛擬語氣,又把 should 省略是不常見的。 但只有二選一,只能選 have failed。

about Q#3, let me give you an example sentence:
It's a pity she can't attend the reception.
or
It was a pity she couldn't attend the reception.

Tell me, can you remove "can't" or "couldn't"?
I guess not. This is why master LionEnglish said "should" was omitted. In my sample sentences, it expresses a negative voice, so you can tell you shall have auxiliary verb (can or could).

However, in your questioned sentence, it is a positive voice, this auxiliary verb can be omitted, because it will NOT affect the meaning of the sentence, but just cause you to have doubt: why using "have" after "he"?

Grammar rule is still applicable, just not the way you think. However, if you read enough, you will automatically know why!
