請問：

1. I would rather that he were here.

would rather that = wish (with a preference) 寧願

隱含另一不選的，譬如：

I would rather that he were here than that she were here.

我寧願他來(而不是她來)

這裡 would rather that 是表是希望，借用wish相關的假設語氣，後面使用過去式。

2. Would that he were here. 但願他在這裏 (事實是他不在)

would that = I wish 使用標準的假設語氣
