Effect of weight

Adding weight on the lower extremity did not alter any spatial parameters but changed some characteristies of the temporal parameters.It was found that non-fallers increased their stance time under dual task when the lower leg carrying l.5 lb weight. The weight added seems to provide a downward force (approxi-mation),therefore subjects tended to step down their legs sooner. A significant taask x group x weight interation was found. The reason reason for non-fallers to decrease their stance time is because the effect of weight was greater than the effeet of dual task for them. In contrast, fallers increased their stance time under dual task condition no matter they carried the weight or not, which means the effect of dual task is more significant than adding weight for older faller, Previous study showed that adding weight would increase the step length variability for younger adults but decrease the same parameter for older adults. The current study found that both groups did not have significant changes on ttis parameter which was not expected. It might be due to the lighter weight carried on this study. We choose1.5 lb as the weight is because this study includes faller who might have risk of falls. However. the stimulation of 1.5 lb might be not enough to induce significant changes on stepping ability. Providing load training on lower extremity under the dual task condition should comsider the subject's historyy of falls as well as subject’s muscle strength.

    所以後面會提到 負荷

    “對下肢重量的增加” 這是指水腫嗎?

    spatial 與 temporal 擺在一起

    十之八九就是指 空間 與 時間
