i am proud of my wife's bing a renowned pianist.
不能直接my wife being a renowned pianist就好嗎？

Both are correct! However, the function of "being a …" is not the same.
For "… my wife's being a …", you treat "being a .." as a gerund phrase (動名詞片語) and use it as a noun.
For " … my wife being a …," you treat "being a …" as a participle phrase (分詞片語) and use it as an adjective.
