I don't see any problem using "to seek ..." other than the fact that "... migrate from X to Y" is typically used to specify the movement from location X to location Y. Using "seeking ..." avoids that possible misunderstanding.

Also, "emigrated" probably should have been used instead of the "migrated" in your original sentence.
