When two actions happened in the past one after another, we use the past perfect tense for the first action.
eg:-(1st) After the last act had "been" finished--(whether been as passive or not)
-----(2nd) we left the club.
-----(3rd) It shows a completed action (=had "been" finished , not was finished ); before a stated time (we left) in the past.It is the past perfect tense.
----(4th)If all in the past time, you cannot change the past into past perfect. in the sequence of tense. Memories of the past 2 events filled your mind only.eg:-During the past you left the club; and and for the past was ""after the last act "was finished"."
